We often confuse repentance with atonement. Repentance is more than saying I am sorry. The word means "to change directions." Repentance is actually hard work of owning what you did, understanding why you did it and the harm that it caused, and trying to make amends for righting the wrong you did. Only then can you sincerely apologize and make a different choice next time.
